Prometech has released “Particleworks for ANSYS 1.2”, an enhanced version of the interface product for “Ansys”
Prometech Software, Inc. (President: Tsuyoshi Sumiya, Head Office: Tokyo, hereinafter Prometech) released “Particleworks for ANSYS 1.2”, an enhanced version of the interface product between Particleworks and the world-leading multiphysics simulation software Ansys, on July 1, 2020.
Particleworks is a mesh-free liquid-flow simulation software based on the moving particle simulation (MPS) method, which is capable of complicated fluid simulations such as liquid dropping, mixing, lubrication, spraying, sloshing and splashing. Because of its easy-to-use operation and unique simulation capabilities, Particleworks has been introduced mainly in the automotive industry and other various fields including machinery, electronic, material, food, chemical, biomedical, energy, and civil engineering industries all over the world. Coupling such complicated liquid behaviors with other physical phenomena such as structure, heat, and airflow, it enables more realistic design verifications much closer to actual products’ behavior. There have been many inquiries related to complex physical phenomena through the coupled analysis of Particleworks and other CAE software, and it is expected that its utilization will spread further.
Particleworks for ANSYS is an interface product for Ansys that complements the wide analysis area of Ansys and further expands the range of phenomena to be studied. This product allows you to use Particleworks on the Ansys Workbench environment. Combined with the simulation functions of Ansys, it enables coupled calculation with Ansys Mechanical such as structural deformation calculation and thermal calculation using the fluid pressure and heat transfer coefficient obtained by Particleworks. You can also use the airflow obtained by Ansys Fluent (CFD software), apply it to Particleworks, and run coupled calculation. The latest version of this product, Particleworks for ANSYS 1.2, supports the airflow obtained by transient calculation in addition to the airflow from steady-state calculation in Ansys Fluent.

You can accurately capture the movement of the sprayed water that changes over time with such coupled calculation. These operations are done on Ansys workbench with Particleworks for ANSYS 1.2 in an easy manner.

The combination of Ansys Fluent and Particleworks in the Ansys Workbench environment now supports transient calculation. Prometech believes that the evaluation and understanding of fluid phenomena in the design and development phases will further accelerate with Particleworks for ANSYS 1.2 and that it will contribute to strengthening the competitiveness of its users. We will continue expanding and enhancing the functions of the interface between Particleworks and Ansys.
